More control over recommendations
Meta announced Facebook’s new “Your Algorithm” feature on Tuesday, allowing users to add and manage topics they want to see in Feed and Reels and describe their preferences in their own words.
Meta says the AI-powered tool will update recommendations in real time, adapting within the same session to users’ feedback.
How users can give feedback
Users can access “Your Algorithm” through the three-dot menu on individual posts, or choose “Interested” and “Not interested” to signal their preferences. Those buttons may also appear beneath posts.
Meta says Facebook may ask follow-up questions about what users liked or disliked, allowing them to explain more precisely what they want to see.
AI and earlier personalization tools
Meta says it is using large language models more extensively in its ranking systems to interpret the interests, context and intent behind users’ natural-language feedback.
The Facebook launch follows personalization tools on Meta’s other platforms. Instagram previously introduced “Your Algorithm,” while Threads has a related feature called “Dear Algo.”
