A new home hub
Apple unveiled HomeView on Tuesday, opening preorders for the $299 device ahead of its November 13 launch. The seven-inch smart display comes in tabletop and wall-mounted versions and can control connected home devices, make FaceTime calls, play music and display recipes.
Apple also introduced its Home Collection of connected accessories, developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, alongside updates to Apple TV and HomePod hardware.
Siri and household personalization
Apple says HomeView can recognize up to six household members and automatically display information relevant to each person, including messages, calendar appointments, contacts and preferred apps.
The display features Siri AI and supports natural-language voice interactions when connected to an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. Apple says Siri conversations can continue on a user’s iPhone or iPad.
Apple said HomeView will not be sold in the European Union because Siri AI remains unavailable there due to EU regulations.
Wall mounting costs extra
Both HomeView versions cost $299, but the wall-mounted model requires a mount and power solution sold separately. Schneider Home’s USB-C wall connector starts at $59.95, while its AC-wired mount starts at $79.95; both are available to order. A $129.95 Power over Ethernet mount is due in early 2027.
The tabletop version includes a speaker base, while the wall-mounted version omits it. The two are distinct models, and the tabletop device cannot be converted into the wall-mounted version.
Locks, cameras and thermostats
The Home Collection includes a smart deadbolt lock, wired video doorbell, temperature sensor, thermostats and indoor and outdoor security cameras. TechCrunch reports that the accessories will become available in December.
The LG lock supports hands-free unlocking through Apple Home Key and ultra-wideband technology, as well as a PIN code or physical key. The doorbell can send notifications to an iPhone or iPad and sound a chime through HomeView or HomePod speakers. The camera range includes an outdoor model with motion-activated floodlights.
