Two wins before Paris clash

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona each secured a second consecutive Champions League victory ahead of their meeting in Paris next week. Defending champions PSG won 4-2 at Manchester City, while Barcelona came from behind to beat Galatasaray 4-1.

PSG delivered a strong first-half performance before holding off City's second-half fightback. Luis Enrique's side are seeking a third consecutive Champions League title.

Barcelona extend winning run

Barcelona's victory in Istanbul took Hansi Flick's team to 10 consecutive wins in all competitions, with 43 goals scored across those matches. Lamine Yamal provided an assist for Anthony Gordon in the win over Galatasaray.

The Independent's updated power rankings described Barcelona as Europe's in-form side, while questioning whether their defence would hold up in the knockout stages. The same assessment identified PSG as the team to beat.

Arsenal win as Bayern drop points

Arsenal beat Lille 3-0 after Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard came off the bench. Liverpool, Real Madrid and Aston Villa also recorded consecutive wins to open their Champions League campaigns, while Manchester United lost at Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich drew 3-3 with Viking, with Harry Kane scoring twice. Michael Olise was sent off and will be suspended for Bayern's home match against Arsenal next week.
