Feast reaches two cities
Chef Abbys’ Big Street Feast 2.0 has concluded after reaching more than 50,000 people across Accra and Kumasi, Starr FM reported. The community feeding initiative aimed to support people through food and promote collective responsibility.
Ahead of the event, Chef Abbys said her team planned to distribute free meals on October 16, 2026, to mark World Food Day. She said the previous year’s edition had served more than 15,000 people in Accra.
Food security beyond one day
In her pre-event commentary, Chef Abbys argued that food security involves affordability, livelihoods, public health and dignity, not just agriculture. She called for better market access for farmers and more efficient food storage, transport and distribution.
She said the feast could not solve Ghana’s food security challenges in a single day, but could provide meals, raise awareness and demonstrate the value of cooperation.
Thanks to supporters
After the event, Chef Abbys thanked sponsors, partners, volunteers, media organisations and others who contributed resources, coordination and publicity. She said their support showed what people and organisations could achieve around a shared purpose.
“The work may be done for this edition, but the spirit behind it continues,” she said.
